2009 will be the first year in which the final note of the Thuringia Bach Festival will sound in the extraordinary setting of Erfurt’s Mariendom – with a closing concert that will do justice to both the remarkable sacral architecture and the cathedral’s exceptional organ. The Rilke Ensemble from Göteborg is one of the most fascinating Scandinavian vocal ensembles, who over the years have rendered outstanding services to developing new concert forms and a very special a cappella culture. Under the direction of choirmaster Gunnar Eriksson and accompanied by the artistic director of the Thuringia Bach Festival, Silvius von Kessel, the ensemble will perform an exceptional programme, which builds a bridge between Bach and the modern day.
